Posted in BMSE, Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Sam Schreiber, Short Story on March 9, 2013 by dunesteef

Linger cover art - final

The phone rings in the middle of the night . . . and it’s time for Levi Keller to do his work once again. You see, sometimes he has to visit with someone after an “accident,” and let them know where they stand.

It’s another winning entry in the Broken Mirror Story Event, this one written by Sam Schreiber. Afterward, Big and Rish talk a bit about the BMSE contest, and about Gino Moretto’s production. They mention their recent visit to Las Vegas, announce a new Incentive Episode . . . and Rish Outfield makes a startling revelation!
Outtakes
Special thanks to Gino Moretto for producing today’s story and doing the artwork for it as well. Also thanks to Tatiana Gomberg, and Debbie Cowens for lending their voices to the tale.

Episode 136: CHEMO: The Pieces Of Erica Smith by J.M. Perkins

Posted in Action, Horror, J.M. Perkins, Science Fiction, Short Story on October 29, 2012 by dunesteef

It’s only been two months since Agent Joseph faced masses of zombies while locked inside of a prison. Now, he has a new mission. This one is so big that half of all CHEMO is being mobilized. They have to destroy every last piece of the immortal cell line that spawned out of a tumor grown on a woman named Erica Smith.

Afterwards, Big and Rish talk CHEMO, get a lot of text messages, and giggle far more than is professionally acceptable. Beware, there’s probably something offensive in all of that…we’re not sure what, but we’re pretty sure it’s there.

Special thanks to Wendy Cooper for producing today’s story, and to Clay Dugger for lending his voice to today’s episode.

Episode 133: The Dead Of Tetra Manna by Mark L. S. Stone

Posted in Adventure, Fantasy, Horror, Mark L. S. Stone, Novelette on August 30, 2012 by dunesteef

Erik of Ciohar is a mighty warrior, defender of his land, and not at all bad with the ladies. But after his last mission to the dread city of Tetra Manna, he is not the man he used to be (literally). Is he still a hero? Can he serve his people as he used to, and can the dark magic of the Tetrans be overcome?

Afterward, Rish and Big talk about the long and winding road in producing this story, world-building, and Comic-Con. Plus, somewhere in there is an announcement about the Parsec Awards.

Special thanks to R.E. Chambliss, Julie Hoverson, Kim Price and Joe Zieja lending their voices to today’s episode, and to Lisa Wilde for today’s episode art.

Episode 128: Unfortunate by B.D. Anklevich

Posted in Big Anklevich, Horror, Short Story on May 4, 2012 by dunesteef

On his date, Geoff gets an unusual message in his fortune cookie. It’s just a practical joke, right?

Afterward, Big and Rish talk about the origins of this tale, and Rish asks the non-musical question, “How do you know?” Oh, and Big goes ahead and asks it musically.

And Big wishes to apologize for his audio sounding bad. Apparently, one is supposed to record with the front of the mic facing one’s mouth. Who reads instructions, amiright?

Episode 117: Bonus – The Podcast That Dares Not Speak Its Name – October Episode

Posted in Edgar Allan Poe, Horror, Short Story on October 31, 2011 by dunesteef

A special Halloween treat (no, make that trick) for all of our listeners.
outtakes
Edgar Allen Poe wrote a story based on a famous country music song called, “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Rish Outfield performs a reading of this classic tale just too late for anyone to actually listen to it before Halloween.

Afterward, Rish and special guest, Big Anklevich, talk about their favorite Halloween costumes, and Fake Sean Connery talks about his exploits with all the various members of our hosts’ families. What a delightful little scamp he is.

Episode 116: Silk For Moisture, Mud For Shine by Amanda C. Davis

Posted in Amanda C. Davis, Fantasy, Horror, Short Story on October 29, 2011 by dunesteef

A Silkie Wrap. All the beautiful people are getting them. After you’ve had yours, you’ll feel like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. Hopefully, you can afford the price.

Afterward, Rish and Big talk a bit about that thing that’s in the eye of the beholder, deals with the devil, the thing that’s a joy forever, and that thing that’s only skin deep. Rish does go on and on even more than usual here, so be warned if he tends to offend you. outtakes

Episode 115: After School Snacks by K. Bowen Black

Posted in Fantasy, Horror, Short Story on October 25, 2011 by dunesteef

Old Mrs. Wakefield seems like such a nice lady. All the kids love to go to her house after school on Fridays for treats. Such a wonderful tradition they all enjoy so much. There couldn’t possibly be something sinister underneath, could there? outtakes

Afterward, Rish and Big talk and talk and talk. Evil children. Trick or treating. Halloween candy. Clean-bots. Kindly old people. Snot-nosed brats. Superman with elephantitis. This is destined to be one of our best episodes ever. Or easily our worst.

Special thanks to Scott Pigg for producing today’s episode and to Wendy Cooper for lending her voice to the tale.

Episode 114: Giving Birth by Philip Roberts

Posted in Horror, Philip Roberts, Short Story on October 12, 2011 by dunesteef

When a household mishap causes Rudy to lose his finger, he discovers more than just dead tissue: something alive about the severed digit. How could that happen? What does it mean? Where is it going? I just can’t put my finger on it…

Also, Rish about Big say a word or two about the unknown, and many more words about constructive criticism and trying to get better at creative endeavors.

Special thanks to Bryan Lincoln for producing today’s story, and Veronica Giguere for lending her voice to the episode.

Episode 112: Death And Michelle Jenkins by Christopher Munroe

Posted in Christopher Munroe, Comedy, Fantasy, Horror, Short Story on September 24, 2011 by dunesteef

outtakes

Michelle’s mother and father aren’t quite sure about their daughter’s most recent choice in her love life. Sure, the kid with the Mohawk and the sternum piercing was not what they’d hoped for, but now she’s going out with The Grim Reaper?

Afterward, Big and Rish talk a bit about death. Their conversation becomes totally predictable in the end. Heck, I’ll bet they end with thanking people and then signing off.

Special thanks to Sonny C. for producing today’s story and to Juliet Bowler, R.E. Chambliss, and the Narrator for lending their voices to the episode.

Episode 110: Dark Detour by Lance Young

Posted in Horror, Lance Young, Science Fiction, Short Story on August 30, 2011 by dunesteef

“Don’t touch it! It’s evil!”

For the captain and crew of the Nomad, the derelict spacecraft looks like a great opportunity for salvage. But their little detour may end up costing them a lot more than time or money.
Outtakes
Also, Big and Rish talk afterward. Novel, I know. Rish has been inspired by filmmaker Kevin Smith, and maybe they can get Announcer Man to participate in the show today.
