The Return by Kevin Anderson

With no memory of what had come before
I awoke in a strange village, face down, on a catacomb floor

Surrounded by faces, each one as plain as the other
It took but a moment to realize, they’d all spawned from the same viral mother

“You shouldn’t have tried to leave,” they chanted
“It’s a miracle you’re still alive”
I hung my head as the memories returned
There was no escape from the Hive

The End
