Promos

Posted in Administrative on July 10, 2009 by dunesteef

Hey, folks, it’s the last bit of the Spring Issue: the promos. Here’s a promo we made, three different length versions of it, that you can canvas the internet with. If you have a podcast, feel free to include it on your show. Or email it to your friends, telling them it’s the new Young Jeezy track or whatever. It’s a Creative Commons file folks, so use it as you see fit.

Broken Mirror Story Event Update

Posted in Administrative, BMSE on April 30, 2009 by dunesteef

Hey folks, Big and I have been blown away by the response to this story contest/event/challenge. We’ve had many submit their stories long before the deadline (indeed, more than participated in the October Scary Story Event, which we hope means our listenership has expanded), while those who came up with this activity are still toiling away.

We want everyone to do their best work, and so, we’ve extended the deadline to this Monday, May 4th (May the fourth be with you), giving people the weekend to put their finishing touches on the work. If you have already sent us your story, and want to take these extra few days to make revisions, simply send us the story a second time and we’ll replace the older tale with the new one.

Remember, please put “Broken Mirror Story Event,” “BMSE,” or “Broken Mirror” in the subject line.

The Broken Mirror Story Event

Posted in Administrative, BMSE on April 3, 2009 by dunesteef

Between April 1st and April 30th, 2009, write a short story based on the following premise:

SOMEONE ARRIVES IN TOWN AND DISCOVERS THAT EVERYONE THERE IS EXACTLY THE SAME.

This story can be any genre and of any length.  However, our podcast usually buys Horror, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy stories, and we prefer stories longer than five hundred words.

A couple of rules:

  1. No multiple submissions, please.  If you have more than one take on this idea, only send us the one you feel is best.
  2. Seriously, write the story in April, based on the idea we’ve presented.  You can always rewrite an old story and present it as though it’s new, but if you do this, at least have the decency to lie about it.
  3. In the subject line of your email, mention that this is for the Broken Mirror Story Event (or the BMSE/BME).
  4. Even though the event ends on May 1st, we would rather get a complete, proofread story a couple of days late than a rushed story with typos and errors on April 29th.

Send the completed story in the body of an email to submissions(at)dunesteef.com (replacing the “at” with @.  Thanks for participating and being a creative person (even if you own a dog)!

The October Scary Story Event

Posted in Administrative, OSSE on October 2, 2008 by dunesteef

We at The Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine have decided to have a special short story writing event during the month of October.  Basically the deal is this:  write a scary story within the month of October, and submit it to us.  The best story will be made into an episode of our show.  It doesn’t have to be an idea you came up with during the month of October, just write the story in October.  And be sure it’s scary.  That’s all it takes.  You have a little less than a month now, so you’d better get started.

When you submit your story, be sure to note in the subject line that it is for the October Scary Story Event.  That is all, return to what you were doing.  Thank you.

Promos For Our Show

Posted in Administrative on October 2, 2008 by dunesteef

Here are some promos that we put together for the podcast. One is our normal promo, the second is the cheesy promo. If you have a podcast, or know someone who does, and would like to run one of these promos on your podcast, feel free to do so. And thank you very much.

***Advisory For Submitting Writers***

Posted in Administrative on July 19, 2008 by dunesteef

On July 8th, a problem occurred with our email delivery. We stopped receiving submissions from anyone. Once we realized the problem, we began furious work to fix it, and we are excited to say that everything is now okay. The address submissions (at) dunesteef (dot) com is back up.

If you sent us a story in the period between 7/8/08 – 7/18/08, then we likely didn’t receive it. Please resend it to us, because we want to read it. Thanks, and sorry about the irritation.
